An Aging Population Means More Visits To The Emergency Room

168474-1198618-thumbnail.jpgRate of emergency room visits by the elderly grew 34 percent during the decade 1993 to 2003, faster than any other group, reports the study appearing today in the journal, Annals of Emergency Medicine. Projections are that if this trend continues, visits by the elderly could nearly double by 2013 to 11.7 million, up from 6.4 million in 2003.
